The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the Civil Services Preliminary Examination results for 2024. The results were released on the official website, upsc.gov.in. Candidates who appeared for the exam can now check their qualification status online. Here are the steps to check the UPSC CSE Prelims results for 2024:
- Visit the official website: upsc.gov.in.
- Navigate to the ‘What’s New’ tab and click on the CSE Prelims result link.
- A PDF containing the roll numbers of the qualified candidates will open.
- Download and print a copy for future reference.
The Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 was conducted on June 16, 2024, in two shifts for General Studies Paper 1 and Paper 2, totaling 400 marks. All questions were objective-type, with four options for each question. Candidates needed to select the correct or most appropriate answer.
Experts had previously indicated that this year’s CSE Prelims paper was easier compared to recent years, and the cut-off scores are expected to be higher.

Based on the results of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2024, held on June 16, 2024, candidates with the specified roll numbers have qualified for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2024. The candidature of these candidates is provisional. According to the examination rules, all qualified candidates must apply again using the Detailed Application Form-I (DAF-I) for the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2024. The dates and instructions for filling out and submitting the DAF-I will be announced on the Commission’s website in due course.
Candidates are also informed that the marks, cut-off marks, and answer keys of the CS (Preliminary) Examination 2024 will be uploaded on the Commission’s website (upsc.gov.in) only after the entire process of the Civil Services Examination 2024 and the Indian Forest Service Examination 2024 is complete, i.e., after the final result is declared.
